Task Folks

What is Task Folks?

Task Folks is a multi-agent autonomous software development framework. It gives your project an entire team of specialized AI agents that collaborate through defined pipelines — turning a rough idea into a verified, shipped implementation with minimal human intervention.

Instead of relying on a single AI assistant to do everything, Task Folks decomposes the software development lifecycle into distinct roles. Each agent has its own expertise, personality, and strict boundaries — just like a real team.

The Problem

Traditional AI-assisted coding puts everything on one agent in one conversation. The same assistant that brainstorms your feature is the one writing the code, testing it, and deciding when it’s done. This creates blind spots: an agent is unlikely to catch its own mistakes.

Task Folks solves this by enforcing separation of concerns. The agent that writes the code is never the one that verifies it. The agent that plans the architecture never touches an implementation file. And an orchestrator keeps everything moving without human micromanagement.

How It Works

A single command deploys the full agent team into any project. From there, you issue a high-level instruction — like “add dark mode support” — and the system takes over:

  1. Ideation — A multi-perspective discussion expands the seed idea into a rich feature specification, examining it from the angles of a researcher, architect, and skeptic.
  2. Requirements — The specification is converted into a structured product requirements document.
  3. Planning — Requirements are broken into atomic, executable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  4. Implementation — A dedicated coding agent picks up stories one at a time, writes the code, and runs the tests.
  5. Verification — A separate test engineer agent reviews the implementation. It cannot write code — it can only approve, or send work back with specific feedback.
  6. Iteration — The implementation and verification cycle repeats until the work meets the acceptance criteria or is escalated for human input.

The Team

Task Folks ships with over a dozen specialized agents across multiple domains:

Software Development

An orchestrator, ideation panel, requirements specialist, story architect, implementer, test engineer, and bug analyst — forming a complete development pipeline from concept to verified code.

Research & Patents

Agents for brainstorming research directions, developing papers, verifying scientific rigor, analyzing patentable inventions, and reviewing patent claims.

Key Principles

Tech Stack

Task Folks is built on top of open-source AI coding runtimes and uses git-native issue tracking for task management. The agents themselves are pure configuration — markdown definitions with model preferences, temperature settings, and tool permissions. There’s no application code to compile; the framework is deployed as-is into target projects.

Status

Task Folks is in active development and used daily for real-world software projects. The source code is not yet published.
